Project Overview

With a slower market and a mostly empty house, we were brought in to create a strong first impression, without a big budget. We staged the entire first floor of this 5BR/3BA home using existing pieces, $400 in new accessories, and creative sourcing from closets, storage, and local finds. Our goal was to create a cozy, inviting atmosphere that matched the home’s character. From layered textures in the bedrooms to shelf styling and fireplace accents, we brought warmth and story to every room.

We brought in two leather chairs and a rug from another room and created a focus on the newly updated fireplace and attention to the built-in shelves with minimal, modern accessories. The surrounding natural scenery inspired the use of textures and the home's color palette of crisp white, shades of blue and green, and the warmth of cream, gold, and brown.

With a blank slate in the primary bedroom, we positioned a bed and used newly purchased wall art as a focal point. In keeping with our color scheme, we used blue and white throughout the room, including the runner we found in a closet that perfectly coordinated, and new sheer curtains for an airy feel.

Lightly styled with a water theme for this “river town,” and taking cues from the kids’ room boat bed, we moved a white bookcase into this room and moved out a black cube shelf that didn’t match the space. To open up the square footage of the room, repositioning the bed allowed more space and flow. Paying attention to details, the striped bedspread was turned, so the lines ran parallel with the longer sides of the bed and were less jarring on the eye.

Finally, we asked our homeowners for a dining table - they had one stored we were able to use. Then we hung artwork and added decor to strategically move the eye through the space.
